Who

About Karboojeh Handmade

In 2010, I left my job as managing editor, and chief editor of an annual business supplement, to stay home and regain my health. I spent almost 15 years juggling two careers in music & media (including PR), branching out on so many occasions to teach, do research, translate and so many other things.

I think after running on high energy for a long time, one can get a little bit burnt out. So I started to develop an interest in doing things with my hands, an activity that didn’t require meeting a lot of people, and that was extremely exciting. I was embarking on a new journey of self-discovery, learning for the first time in my life to slow down and appreciate new things, develop new networks with like-minded cratfers and DIYers.

In 2011, I started this blog and with it came Karboojeh Handmade Jewelry. I started selling my jewelry at craft shows, which was interesting for a while.

Then I started experimenting with other mediums, like painting on fabric. From there I discovered water color in a fresh new context: By applying botanical sketches to book pages from old books I had, I started to love the idea of mixed-media art. This is when I decided to rename this blog Karboojeh Handmade, while the logo will be Karboojeh.

The meaning of Karboojeh

Karboojeh means a “cute” in my husband’s colloquial tongue.

Wow your blog is amazing. I sew and create jewellery myself, so I absolutely love your blog. You are much more skilled than I am though!
