vintage necklaces
The pendant necklaces in this collection all have a vintage piece in them. I love working around vintage earrings, brooches, and accessories, in a way that gives them a new life. Some of the items below were part of a bigger picture, that was dismantled so that I would make new use of its parts.
An example of this can be found in picture number 7. This used to be a busy vintage earring with a lot of beads dangling from it. I took the beads and used them in necklace number 5, and added turquoise beads to the metal and pearl ones to tie the design together with the focal glass pendant, nestling nicely on a background of crochet.
1. This mother-of-pearl focal piece is quite vintage, it used to be as part of a big earring, but I think it looks nice this way, too. The key-clasp (I’m not sure what they call them – key-holder?) is a direct inspiration from Rebecca Minkoff’s mini mab bags, must admit it!
2. Love this one… The focal piece is a vintage earring, that has been manipulated into a necklace center piece.
3. I had fun making this one (below) using a real vintage piece of jewelry as the focal piece…
4. This one (below) is a vintage/modern Karboojeh necklace with ribbon, beads and fresh water pearls that I bought from Italy.
5. The one below is a custom-made Syrian glass bead with crochet (yes, I actually did the crochet) and chain necklace by Karboojeh… Most of the beads are vintage. The golden center piece is the other pair of the earring I mentioned somewhere up above…
6. This one also has a vintage focal piece with natural black stones….
7. The one below also has a vintage focal piece that a dear family member gave to me in the shape of an earring… that I dismantled and turned into this…
8. Tribal all the way… with vintage beads…
Oh my goodness, your creations are so beautiful! I love how you incorporate vintage pieces into your work – so unique.
oh, wow, thanks! I’m so honored! I haven’t been working much with vintage pieces lately, i’m in my ‘boho’ phase, hehehehe. But now I feel so encouraged to resume vintage – thanks :)
